Comprehensive reading :

It consists of carefully reading the entire topic. Unknown words or concepts will be looked up in the dictionary or encyclopedia.

The side notes:

They are the words that we write on the left side of the text and that express the main ideas of the text. Sometimes they are explicit, others we will have to invent them.

The underline:

It consists of putting a line under the words that we consider most important of a topic.

Try to express graphically and duly hierarchize the different ideas of a topic. It is the structure. There are different types of schemes.

Summary:

It is extracting from a text everything that we are interested in knowing and want to learn. The underlined is written adding the missing words so that the written text makes sense.
