At the beginning of the 21st century, technologies began to develop actively and the number of possible electrical appliances expanded. The use of innovative technologies has spread both to professional human activities and to the service and entertainment sector. With the increase in electromagnetic radiation and the significant effect of devices on human health, the issue of the safety of the use of new technologies becomes more and more urgent. In order to unify the operating system of acoustic devices as well as the methodology for assessing their impact, international ISO standards have been created. If you operate in an industry where the above technologies are used, we recommend that you pay attention to the following international standards for acoustic measuring appliances.
At the beginning of the 21st century, technologies began to develop actively and the number of possible electrical appliances expanded. The use of
Noise measurement is an urgent problem for both residential buildings and industrial premises. Since the influence of acoustic devices is of great importance in the issue of human health and organizational work processes, international standards such as EN 16205: 2020 are being created.
This document specifies a laboratory measurement method to determine noise radiated from a floor covering on a standard concrete floor when excited by a standard tapping machine.
By clicking on the link to the site, you can familiarize yourself with more detailed technical characteristics of this document, which will allow you to understand the possibility of applying the standard in your field of activity, or to continue searching for a more suitable standard.
EN ISO 11690-2:2020
Acoustic devices are used both in everyday life and in people's professional activities. This type of technology is still quite popular due to innovative development and ease of use. Nevertheless, the organization of a safe workplace is responsible not only for the productive results from the activities carried out, but also for human health. That is why such regulatory documents as EN ISO 11690-2: 2020 are being created.
This document deals with the technical aspects of noise control in workplaces. The various technical measures are stated, the related acoustical quantities described, the magnitude of noise reduction discussed, and the verification methods outlined.
This document deals only with audible sound.
If the issue of sound control at workplaces is a priority or rather significant in your organization, we recommend that you pay attention to this standard and think about the benefits of its application in your field of activity.
EN ISO 717-1:2020
In construction activities, noise is an integral part of the entire process. When constructing the structure of a future building or designing it, great attention is paid to the influence of sound waves. For a better regulation process of this aspect in design activities, such standards as EN ISO 717-1: 2020 are being created.
a) defines single-number quantities for airborne sound insulation in buildings and of building elements such as walls, floors, doors, and windows,
b) takes into consideration the different sound level spectra of various noise sources such as noise sources inside a building and traffic outside a building, and
c) gives rules for determining these quantities from the results of measurements carried out in onethird-octave or octave bands for example in accordance with ISO 10140-2 and ISO 16283-1.
The single-number quantities in accordance with this document are intended for rating airborne sound insulation and for simplifying the formulation of acoustical requirements in building codes. An additional single-number evaluation in steps of 0,1 dB is indicated for the expression of uncertainty (except for spectrum adaptation terms). The required numerical values of the single-number quantities are specified according to varying needs. The single-number quantities are based on results of measurements in one-third-octave bands or octave bands.
For laboratory measurements made in accordance with ISO 10140-2, single-number quantities are calculated using one-third-octave bands only.
This standard has a large number of technical characteristics. Nevertheless, it is advisable not to use it as a separate independent document, but to pay attention to the standards that accompany it in order to clarify a clearer overall picture that will allow obtaining the most productive and high-quality results.
EN ISO 2922:2020
We have already emphasized that acoustic devices are used in completely different branches of human activity. Sometimes the industry is narrowly focused and sometimes global in the context of a regulatory issue. Noise measurement on inland waterways and harbors is a specialized category for which a document such as EN ISO 2922: 2020 has been created.
This document specifies the conditions for obtaining reproducible and comparable measurement results of the airborne sound emitted by vessels of all kinds, on inland waterways and in ports and harbours, except powered recreational craft as specified in the ISO 14509 series. This document is applicable to sea-going vessels, harbour vessels, dredgers, and all watercraft, including non-displacement craft, used or capable of being used as a means of transport on water. There are no limitations to the application of this document with regard to speed, length and height of vessels, as long as the ship is determined to act like a point source at the reference distance of 25 m.
If your field of activity comes into contact with technologies and the method of applying these technologies, we recommend that you think about purchasing this document to minimize possible risks as well as get the highest quality and most productive use of existing devices.
Technical parameters and their regulation at the international level
The large variability of existing technologies for acoustic devices significantly increases the need for international regulation, and as a result, the creation of international standards. Since today regulation is carried out both at the global and at a more local level, it is necessary to clearly understand which standards to give preference to for implementation into the existing system of the enterprise. If the vector of your organization's development is focused more on the European market, then EN ISO standards structure the existing processes in the best way with recommendations adapted specifically for the European Union. If you do not know which documents to give preference to, you can always contact the iTeh team for advice and clarification of all questions.
